We offer a great selection of 100% Icelandic wool yarn, the well-known Álafoss Lopi and other lopi wools for hand knitting such as Plötulopi, Bulky Lopi and Létt-Lopi. The Icelandic wool (Icelandic lopi yarn) is warm as nature intended and is easy to use and quick to knit, not to mention extremely versatile.
For warm winter garments that breathe, Álafoss Lopi is the right yarn.
Bulky yarn - 100% new wool.
100 g (3.5 oz.) approx. 100 m. (109 yd.).
Gauge: 13 sts to 10 cm(4") over St st using size 6-6½ mm (Old UK 4-3) (US 10-10).
Half the weight of Álafoss lopi and produces garments that are comfortable to wear both indoors or outdoors. Léttlopi, lopi light yarn.
Worsted weight yarn - 100% new wool.
50 g (1.7 oz) approx. 100 m (109 yd).
Gauge: 18 sts to 10 cm (4") over St st using size 4½ - 5 mm (Old UK 7-6) (US 7-8).
Since Plötulopi is an unspun yarn, it is fragile to knit. However, due to the length of its fibres, it knits into a sweater that is both sturdy and soft. Plötulopi is perfect for knitting the traditional Icelandic wool sweater. Almost all of the traditional Icelandic wool sweaters that Alafoss offers are knitting with 2-ply plötulopi yarn.
Icelandic plötulopi (plotulopi = unspun plates) - 100% new wool yarn.
Each plate is about 100-110 g (3.5 oz) approx. 300 m (328yd).
Gauge-1 ply: 19 sts to 10 cm (4") over St st using size 4½ mm (Old UK 7) (US 7).
Gauge-2 ply: 14 sts to 10 cm (4") over St st using size 5½ mm (Old UK 5) (US 9).
Einband is a lace weight yarn that is perfect for light and delicate garments and shawls.
100% wool, 50 gr (1.7 oz) approx. 225 m (245 yd).
Kambgarn is a light worsted weight yarn. Made of 100% merino wool, ideal for warm baby blankets and soft children’s clothes.
Light worsted weight yarn - 100% Merino wool.

Gauge: 24 sts to 10 cm (4") over St st using size 3-4 mm (Old UK 11-8) (US 2-6).
Super bulky yarn - 100% new wool.
100 g (3.5 oz) approx. 60 m (66 yd). Gauge: 10 sts to 10 cm(4") over St st using size 8 - 9 mm(Old UK 0-00) (US 11-13).
Bulky lopi is a super bulky yarn and thicker than Álafoss lopi. Bulky lopi knits very quickly and is ideal for one-color garments.
