Traditional Icelandic Wool Sweaters

Icelandic Wool Sweaters

Keeping you warm since 1896!

The name Iceland is enough to send shivers up your spine as the nation is famous for it’s often times harsh and cold weather conditions, thus making it the top maker of traditional handmade wool products across the world. The native people have a unique method of creating the warm sweaters, cardigans, pullovers (in Icelandic called Lopapeysa) using traditional yoke patterns, that meet international fashion and design requirements as well as maintaining the traditional Icelandic quality.

The Icelandic Lopi

The yarn used in the Icelandic wool sweaters, lopi, is made from the wool of the Icelandic sheep. It is very unique in its composition and together, the distinctive fibres create wool that is warm, lightweight, water-repellent and breathable.
